In September 2011, The Carr Hall Home & Garden Centre was fully reliant on two diesel generators, which were having huge financial implications on the business. The generators required 3600 litres of diesel per week to provide power to the complex. The costs of this equated to £2,400 per week.
The wind turbine project has enabled the creation of over 300 jobs at the site in 2015. Moreover, the 0.5MW grid connection now provides low cost and low carbon energy for the businesses operating out of the site.
“If the wind energy scheme had not been installed and approved the windfall that this represents for the local and national economy would have not have been achieved”.
The turbines are already proving to provide a massive cost saving for the business, whilst reducing the carbon footprint, providing the benefits of job creation and energy security for the local area
